MLB at Rickwood Field

The Team:

Danny Gugger - Design/Direction
Emily Murray - Design/Production
Nicholas Kelly - Design/Production

The Event:

A pillar of African-American baseball since 1910, Rickwood Field was renovated by MLB to as a tribute to the history of the Negro Leagues. The Negro Leagues were professional leagues that provided a platform for African-American players that were originally barred from MLB. This renovation was showcased during a Juneteenth game between the Giants and Cardinals.

The Job:

I assisted in the design of outfield wall advertisements from modern sponsors, recreating them as period-specific hand-painted wooden boards from the 1930s—down to the flat-head screws and wood-like textures I developed to achieve an authentic, aged look. In addition, I expanded upon the event’s style guide to produce a wide range of environmental graphics in and around the ballpark, ensuring the visual identity extended cohesively from the field walls to the broader fan experience.
